Weight: 10 lbs currently, and should be approx 20 lbs full grown per the breeder
Housebroken: not quite, will use a potty pad or go out an open door to backyard
Kids: 10 and older would be best
Other dogs: very friendly with other dogs, lots of energy, loves to play. We want you to have another well established dog in the home, young enough for him to bond and play with. We also want you to have time on your hands to help train him and get him on your household routine.
Cats: unknown
Housing: We are looking to put him in a house with a backyard. NO apartment/condo/townhome living. A house with a backyard.
Personality: Austin is a darling boy. He is initially shy meeting new people and will need some “people socializing” since he stayed with his breeder for 5 months. He is very smart and very active. He ran around for 4 hours straight the other day before settling down.
What we know: Austin was bought from a breeder in Texas at 5 months old and delivered to his new home in California. As it turns out, his new owner was very allergic to him. The breeder would not take the dog back, so he was surrendered to rescue. He does much better with another dog. He is shy at first with people. He will need help settling in and getting into a routine. He needs a dog young enough to want to play with him.
About the breed: please educate yourself on what you are adopting. Australian shepherds are a highly intelligent herding breed. They love having a job and will do it well. This breed is very active & very intelligent. So, if you do not nurture the brain and energy, they become destructive. If you are looking for a simple house dog or a backyard dog. This is NOT the breed for you. He needs active owners.
Medical: healthy. He’s been vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. Will be neutered at our vet when he is 6 to 7 months old.
